MEET JAZLYN SMITH

Sergeant Jim Smith proudly served in law enforcement for 27 years. He began his career with the Iowa State Patrol District 13 in 1993 and later transferred to District 10 located in Oelwein. He served as a trooper before accepting a leadership role with the Area C Tactical Team. On April 9, 2021, Sgt. Smith passed away in the line of duty. He earned many awards for his service including the Public Safety Commissioner’s Award for Traffic Safety and the Iowa Law Enforcement Purple Heart Award.
